
Roger started at the BBC in 1967 and became Editor of TONIGHT in 1978, PANORAMA in 1979 and NATIONWIDE in 1981. He was appointed Head of BBC Manchester’s Network Production in 1983 and responsible for series such as BRASS TACKS and A QUESTION OF SPORT.
In 1986 he joined Thames Television as Editor of THIS WEEK and was responsible for the DEATH ON THE ROCK documentary about which he later published a book. In 1989, he was made controller of Network Factual Programmes, responsible for programmes such as THE TIME, THE PLACE and historical documentaries such as STALIN, NIXON and THE KENNEDYS. Since 1993, Roger has been an Independent Producer and Presenter.
He fronted Channel 4’s RIGHT TO REPLY programme and now presents SUNDAY and FEEDBACK on Radio 4. Roger is a former chair of the Edinburgh TV festival, member of PACT Council and fellow member of the Royal Television Society.
